Goals

This study aims to design and manufacture a plasma igniter that can effectively reduce NOx emissions without altering the design of the internal combustion engine.


Issues Involved or Addressed

  • With the increase in energy consumption due to economic development and population growth, the emission of air pollutants has inevitably increased. Fine particulate matter emitted from cooling and heating devices, industrial facilities, steel mills, incinerators, large power plants, and the transportation sector is a major contributor to environmental pollution. Many countries are conducting extensive research to regulate and reduce the emission of air pollutants.

Medtods and Technologies

  • The plasma igniter will be installed in the air cleaner section of the intake line to verify its effectiveness in reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter.
